Thomas K. Brown

headshotWith over twenty years of courtroom experience, Tom Brown has handled a broad variety of personal injury, products liability, and commercial disputes. A Board Certified Specialist in personal injury litigation, he was recently named one of the 500 Leading Plaintiff's Attorneys in America by the Lawdragon legal journal, selected from a list of over 10,000 nominees from lawyers and judges across the nation.

Mr. Brown is the lead attorney representing the passengers on a chartered bus or motorcoach that crashed near Waco, Texas in 2003, resulting in several deaths and numerous injuries. He is also one of the lead attorneys representing passengers on board a chartered bus that crashed near Sherman, Texas in 2008, which also caused numerous deaths and injuries. These crashes and others have led to increased scrutiny of charter bus operators and have highlighted the need for passenger protections on buses. Mr. Brown was the first lawyer in the United States to obtain a jury verdict finding that a bus was unsafe because it was not equipped with seat belts and safety glass to protect passengers.

Mr. Brown's peers have elected him to the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, an honor limited to the top one-percent of lawyers in any state, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, limited to 500 Fellows from the United States, and the American Board of Trial Advocates. Other professional honors include listings in Best Lawyers in America, Texas Monthly magazine’s Super Lawyers, "H" magazine's "Houston Top Lawyer" and "Lawyer for the People," and Howard Payne University, Distinguished Young Alumnus.

Mr. Brown obtained his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Baylor University School of Law in 1986. He is admitted to practice in Texas, and before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Western, and Eastern Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Court of Federal Claims. His professional memberships include the Texas Bar Foundation, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
